The calendar may be headed toward the winter months, but its not getting chilly here in Newport quite yet! - Walk Fort Adams
Visitors can embark on self-guided tours of the seaside grounds of this military fort turned state park or book a guided tour led by an expert to learn about the fort’s military history from inside its walls, from its scenic overlook or deep within its underground tunnels.
- Enjoy a sunset at Brenton Point
Brenton Point State Park is home to some of the most beautiful real estate on the island, allowing visitors access to picnicking, hiking and fishing facilities as well as some of the area’s most picturesque views. Catching a sunset here while staying in Newport is a must!
- Explore Sachuset Point National Wildlife Refuge
An exciting destination for outdoors and wildlife lovers of all kinds, a visit to Sachuset Point is especially appealing to bird lovers, as the refuge is home to over 200 species. Explore the 2.5 miles of nature trails leading through salt marsh and beach habitats overlooking stunning views of the Sakonnet River and Rhode Island Sound.
- Walk the Cliff Walk
Can’t decide if you want to take a walk on the beach or a stroll taking in the beauty of Newport’s gorgeous gilded mansions? Do both! The Cliff Walk, a 3.5-mile public access way, borders the ocean, allowing walkers to explore the shoreline with views of the sea on one side and the sprawling lawns of numerous mansion properties on the other.
- Cocktails on the lawn at Castle Hill Inn
Pull up an Adirondack chair on the seaside lawn of the Castle Hill Inn, an oceanfront accommodation dripping in luxury. Diners can order small plates or simply choose to enjoy craft cocktails and the breathtaking view.
- Enjoy a wine tasting or winery tour at Newport Vineyards
Visitors to our favorite vineyard can enjoy wine tastings or embark on winery tours to get a sneak peek on their winemaking process. There are also two restaurants on site, Brix, serving dinner paired, of course, with estate wines and the Vineyard Café, serving locally sourced selections.
- Visit the International Tennis Hall of Fame
The International Tennis Hall of Fame pays tribute to the sport with a museum, indoor tennis facility and grass tennis courts. Visitors can enjoy interactive and educational exhibits and view memorabilia honoring their favorite players.
- Tour Rough Point
The looking to expand on the traditional mansion tour experience should head to Rough Point, the former summer home of Doris Duke and her infamous pet camels.
- Pick berries at Sweet Berry Farm
It’s just about apple picking season at our favorite little farm by the sea which not only has a pick-your-own program, but also sells pre-made meals in their quaint shop and features live music.
- Take a harbor sail or cruise
The air is still warm and the water still beautiful! Enjoy everything Newport has to offer from beyond the shores aboard a sailboat or cruise vessel.
