Let’s face it: Newport wouldn’t be the same without oysters. Whether you love them, hate them, or have yet to try them…. your chance has arrived to be surrounded by the best and most beautiful oysters at the Newport Waterfront Oyster Festival. Presented by Moet & Chandon, the festival will be serving champagne and will take place on Bowen’s Wharf May 19, 20th, and 21st 11am – 5pm showcasing the best of Rhode Island’s 45 (!) oyster farms. Live music and shucking demonstrations will be part of the daily offerings. Tickets are $27 and include 4 free oysters and drink, kids under 12 are free!

“Join a cast of spurious characters from all walks of life who have gathered for the “Grand Opening Gala of SCI” in 1930. But, things aren’t coming up roses and when an illustrious guest ends up dead, it will be up to you to search for clues, question suspects and piece together your theory of the crime!”
The event takes place just a short walk from the inn at Seamen’s Church Institute on May 26th 8-9:30 PM. Wine, hors d’oeuvres, and a grand prize for the winner is included in the ticket price; advanced registration is required. Enjoy a unique concert experience put on by the Newport String Project in celebration of Rough Point’s “Nature Tamed” exhibition. The concert will showcase how composers from 18th century tame the often wild and unkempt natural world and transform their insights into nature-inspired musical masterpieces. Have you been to the expanded Newport Vineyards? May 28th 12:00 – 5:00 pm they will be hosting their 15th annual spring celebration, sure to be a fun time for all. Grape stomping, sack racing, live bands and wine sipping all rolled into one spring afternoon! Newport Vineyards even has its own culinary team so you can enjoy lunch, dinner, or light snacks while soaking up the spring vines!
Always wanted to build your own stone wall (looks easy right?) Stop by the Stone Wall Workshop Saturday May 20th 9:00 am – 12:00 pm at Prescott Hall Farm and learn the art of traditional stone wall construction and repair from the experts. Master class instructors Chris and Dan Smith lead for the fourteenth year of this active workshop. Coffee, muffins, and water bottles will be provided for all participants. Bring your own work gloves and be ready for a unique experience.
