45th Annual International Boat Show- September 13, 2018 – September 16, 2018
This has been named “most popular boat show to attend,” so you know it is a must go. Encompassing 13 acres of historic Newport Harbor you can board and view ships, powerboats, and sailboats talk to industry experts, and enjoy the nautical life, if just for a day. Newport Mansions Food and Wine Festival- September 20, 2018 – September 23, 2018
Join the party and be a part of the 11th annual Food and Wine festival. Sip all the wine your tastebuds can handle and talk to the best chefs. Meet designer and cookbook author Zac Posen. There is also, of course, tons of amazing food. Tickets are available for purchase online in many varieties so you can pick and choose how you want to enjoy the weekend. Free parking and a shuttle to all event locations is provided.
FOR BEACH LOVERS NO MATTER THE SEASON:
FREE AND NOT CROWDED BEACHES? The best kept secret about relaxing in the sand is that the best time to experience the sea is AFTER Labor Day, when the crowds (and the parking fees) have gone. At the end of the season in September and October, the ocean water is often well into the 60’s still and many people swim the beaches until the last weeks of October. Want even more privacy? surfer? family with kids? romance? Check out our July blog for our selections for you.
Rail Explorers offers an unforgettable scenic ride along historic Aquidneck Island and spectacular Narragansett Bay on custom built pedal-powered vehicles. It is an amazing time with an even more amazing view, on existing railroad tracks. Fun for the entire family!
Exploration Center & Aquarium. This is probably the best idea ever for your kids. All the exotic fish you can dream of. Seahorses, turtles and stingrays too! Discover the fascinating marine life of Narragansett Bay at this interactive exploration center. Get up and personal with sea urchins, spider crabs, little skates, and more in three different touch tanks. There are also things for much younger children like theme-based crafts and activities, scavenger hunts, and story center. Easton’s beach is just outside to relax after!
Secret Garden Tours – Fall -September 7, 2018, September 8, 2018, September 9, 2018
Would you love a tour of a dozen beautiful Newport gardens? Go for a self-guided walking tours! The tours run daily from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM and tickets are good for any or all days of the tour. Get tickets here.
Tommy Tewsday – the Fourth Annual Newport Pirate Invasion – September 8, 2018
Love pirates? You must be dressed like one for this! Go all out and grab mardi gras beads and rum, and embark on a scavenger hunt around town that includes a booze cruise. There are also great food and drink deals around town once ashore. The best part? $2 from every ticket gets donated to a local charity as well so you can feel good about all the pillaging you did around town. More info here.
