Official Opening of Christmas in Newport is on December 1st at 5:00 p.m., Washington Sq. Features proclamation from the Mayor, tree lighting, Newport Artillery cannon salute, music by the Newport Public Schools music program.
It wouldn’t be Christmas in Newport without a visit to the Newport Mansions dressed from head to toe in sparkling lights. Three are open through the holidays with tickets available through the Newport Preservation Society.

Illuminated stroll along the winding paths of Blithewold’s enclosed garden is one of the prettiest sights you ever will see. Described as: “Take in the wonder of trees and paths that twinkle, sparkle and glow. A scavenger hunt will offer you the opportunity to take a closer look at the handcrafted lanterns and ornaments that light your way through this delightful garden promenade.” All ages welcome.
